Nuts ‘n’ Candy Cups

Your eyes will tell you this piece might be knitted fiber but your touch will tell you it’s fired clay. And they both will be right in a certain sense, because clay generally doesn’t get knitted, and knitting generally isn’t at all hard and stiff. But here they are: a lace knit and shaped porcelain tiny candy cups. What’s going on? It starts with handknit cotton which is dipped in liquid porcelain, shaped as it dries and fired to temperature. The cotton burns away, leaving a lovely detailed memory of the knitting. It is light, showing all the handknit details, foibles and all. It is strong because porcelain, contrary to its appearance, is quite dense and tough. What remains is the amazement. See all the photos to enjoy and plan your party. We have several in stock and will select the perfect one or more for you.
