Whatnot Dish in Marigold Celadon with Silver “GUAC” Dogtag

$28.00

Whatnot Dishes come in handy nearly anywhere you find whatnots. With snappy hand-carved stripes and colorful glazes, they bring a zippy touch to a small task.  A fun tag suggests what the dish might keep or offer. This one’s about GUAC, as in guacamole. Some are tagged for practical, some for fun, some for both. You get to decide. They are hand-formed from slabs of white clay and slathered with a black underglaze which is then partially removed by a carving technique called sgraffito, creating the bold striping. Each one gets a juicy translucent glaze in and out. A clay tag is stained with black, fired, and then given an application of silver metallic wax which is burnished on. They play well with each other, too.
