Improving the Reception

$275.00

Using my own Kindergarten paintings – yes I still have them! – I select and apply a section to a firm support and then the conversation begins…

I seek out gestural figures in periodicals and other paper ephemera, which are then reversed to see what serendipity they might bring. These images are aligned with the composition and colors of the painting to create or enhance a narrative.

In Improving the Reception, the story is about the outdated TV antenna on the roof (I painted a lot of  houses) which the man is climbing up to adjust. It’s also about the cell phone in the woman’s hand as she searches for more bars or a hot spot. Or maybe it’s really about the connection between them – or the lack of it – each seeking what they think is the solution.
